What is the difference between Git and GitHub?

Git is the version control software that runs on your computer and tracks changes. GitHub is the website that stores those changes in the cloud. You use Git to commit changes locally, then push them to GitHub.

Do I need to use the terminal for GitHub?

No. VS Code has Git integration built in, and GitHub Desktop is a free graphical app that handles commits and pushes without the terminal. The terminal is worth learning eventually, but you can start without it.

Should my beginner projects be public or private?

Private is fine while you are learning. Make projects public when they are working and you want to share or showcase them.
